Do not Laugh Loudly In Front Of Your Teacher

 Respect for Teachers

When standing before a teacher, remove your glasses, especially if they are dark glasses used for sun protection.

When shaking hands with a teacher, take off your gloves and shake hands with both hands. If you wish to embrace the teacher, do so in a respectful manner, which means either touching necks or at most embracing with chest-to-chest contact. Avoid excessive physical closeness or talking too much. Some students, in their love, may hug us so tightly that it becomes difficult to breathe, while others may lift us up. Never hang the teacher in the air.

After shaking hands or exchanging pleasantries, simply part ways. If you meet your teacher after many years, kiss their hands with respect—just be careful not to leave saliva.

Imam Ali (RA) said, "Whoever taught me a letter is my master. I am their slave, whether they keep me or sell me." So, if a teacher has taught you even for thirty minutes in life, think of how many letters they've taught you. They are your master.

Do not smoke in front of your teacher. If, by misfortune, the teacher suddenly appears while you're smoking, immediately throw the cigarette on the ground and crush it with your foot.

Do not use tobacco in front of your teacher. Always stand alert in the teacher's presence, keeping your head lowered, avoiding any inappropriate gestures or actions. Do not pick your nose or stick your fingers in unnecessary places. Swallow your saliva. Do not create unnecessary sounds, like spitting or clearing your throat loudly. Do not play with pigeons or attempt to fight birds.

If you have an itch somewhere or are bitten by an insect, bear it until the teacher leaves, and then scratch.

Do not laugh loudly in front of your teacher. Keep your volume low. Never argue or try to act more knowledgeable than your teacher. Do not disagree with the teacher's opinion, especially in religious matters. If you have a differing opinion, respectfully and politely present it, saying, "My opinion on this matter is this, respected teacher."

If your teacher comes to your home for a celebration or any event, seat them separately. Ensure the best food is prepared for them. If the rice runs out, prepare some meat along with it. After the meal, offer them tea or a cold drink. If possible, give them a parcel to take with them. If your teacher removes their shoes, polish them properly before they are worn again, and place them neatly. When sending them off, walk them to the street.

Give gifts to your teacher regularly. What you have today is due to your teacher’s effort. At least once, secretly slip a 5,000-10,000 rupee note into their pocket. If they do not wear a vest, give the money in an envelope, and do not let them know it's there. You can say, "Sir, check this when you get home, I have written something for you." Never give money directly to a teacher’s hand, as they may feel uncomfortable, and a respectful student would never do so.

If you own a bike and your teacher is walking, stop your bike and first remove your helmet. After greeting them, offer them a ride. If your house is in one area, and your teacher’s house is far away, do not drop them off at a random location; instead, take them directly to their destination.

Do not argue with your teacher on social media, even if they make an incorrect statement. For example, if your teacher says, "This is wood, not stone," you should reply respectfully, "Yes, Sir, it’s marble." If they post something silly, simply respond with a heart emoji. If they upload a picture, regardless of how they look, compliment them, saying "MashaAllah, what a glowing face!"

If your teacher calls you for a task, such as harvesting wheat or any other work, bring your sickle along. Do not shirk from work. Do it with full attention, and make sure to return home after finishing the work. Do not harm animals or birds under any circumstances.

Invite your teacher to your home from time to time, especially for any occasion. If you slaughter a goat, send its two back legs to the teacher, and if you slaughter a chicken, try to offer the breast meat. This will make your teacher happy, and you will receive blessings in return.

If, by unfortunate circumstances, you have gained some position or fame in life, whether by merit or bribery, and your teacher’s position is equal to yours, never sit in a higher position than your teacher at an event.

Always place yourself below your teacher with humility. If you act arrogantly and sit at the same level as the teacher, it will be disgraceful.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where doing something would benefit you but harm your teacher, avoid it. If ever your teacher is replaced by you in a position, never accept it. Immediately resign from that post if offered. Do not sit in your teacher’s seat, as their sorrow and disappointment will haunt you.

If someone speaks ill of your teacher in front of you, give them one warning. After that, show them the consequences of their actions, but ensure no one gets hurt physically, and the matter does not escalate to the police.
